Haarlem Marketing launches campaign 'Haarlem, city with a story'

18-10-2023

Haarlem is a city full of stories. Stories from times gone by and stories of today. About artists and pioneers. About adversity and progress. All these stories make Haarlem the city it is today. Haarlem Marketing has developed an image-boosting campaign in which these stories are given space and which is aimed at visitors from outside the city and at Haarlem residents. The campaign will be rolled out over the next three months through bus shelters, welcome signs and online marketing. Of course, the visithaarlem.com website also plays a major role.

The stories of Haarlem

Holland's first railroad, cocktails inspired by the work of one of the greatest painters in Dutch history, a Vegan Award winning restaurant, a culture of beer brewing and of flowers, a goldsmith making a rattle for the crown princess, a royal soccer club and an atmospheric shopping area. But also an aviation pioneer who flies a circuit over the city, the first museum of the Netherlands, the first newspaper of the Netherlands, a woman who rebels against the Spaniards, and we could go on and on. Wonderful stories that have in common that they take place in our city and deserve to be told. That is exactly what Haarlem Marketing is going to do. The campaign is the first step.

Intriguing and surprising

In the campaign, all stories are told in two steps. The first step is an expression in which two stories come together, such as "Brewing beer in a city full of flowers" or "Taking the first train to the streets of gold. Intriguing communications that show a surprising side of the city, for visitors and for born and bred Haarlemmers. At visithaarlem.com/local-stories/ are the stories behind the intriguing phrase and many other stories about Haarlem, so the reader sees immediately: Haarlem is a city with a story. With this, Haarlem Marketing wants to bring attention to this special city in a surprising way with the aim of highlighting Haarlem's distinctiveness.
