HAARLEM CONVENTION BUREAU
Atmospheric A cozy historic center, famous museums, stores, restaurants and the beach around the corner: Haarlem has it all. From hidden courtyards from days gone by to trendy concept stores. From medieval church to waterside terrace. From Dutch Masters to French star chefs. From antique market to pop concert. Be surprised by the sights, boutiques and picturesque squares, by the old and contemporary artists, the burgundian atmosphere and the rich history. History Haarlem is a city with a rich history. The town originated as a spiritual settlement on a beach ridge, over which ran a country road that connected the north of Holland with the south. Haarlem only "really" became a city in 1245 with the receipt of city rights by Count Willem II of Holland. From then on, Haarlem grew to become one of the most important cities in the Netherlands. In 2020, we will celebrate Haarlem's 775th anniversary. Haarlem in a nutshell Want to know more about Haarlem? Visit Anno Haarlem!
